Chesterton's 1912 novel in which Innocent Smith blows into a London boarding house on a high wind and is put on trial by its residents for burglary, desertion, polygamy and attempted murder. The evidence for each charge is read out at length, and each charge turns out to mean the opposite of what it sounds like.
