Quintus Smyrnaeus wrote in the fourth century AD to fill the gap between the Iliad and the Odyssey, and this is A. S. Way's 1913 verse translation. Fourteen books carry the war from the death of Hector to the sailing of the Greeks: Penthesileia and Memnon come to Troy's aid and fall, Achilles dies by Paris's arrow, Aias goes mad over his armour, and the wooden horse is built.
