The Man Who Was Thursday
1908
Chesterton's 1908 novel, subtitled A Nightmare, in which the poet-detective Gabriel Syme is elected to the central council of an anarchist conspiracy whose members are named for the days of the week. The chase that follows turns into something other than a detective story, and the dedication to E. C. Bentley sets the terms.
