Archibald Henderson's 1920 history of the backcountry between 1740 and 1790, following the Scotch-Irish and German settlers who crossed the Alleghenies into Tennessee and Kentucky. Boone, Sevier and the Watauga Association appear as parts of a migration rather than as isolated frontier legends.
